The dosha formula for this product is: Vata + Pitta – Kapha –. This means that Vasaka is traditionally viewed as a herb that reduces Pitta and Kapha, but may increase Vata, especially if a person already has pronounced dryness, sensitivity or a feeling of depletion.

Vasaka in Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, Vasaka is known as a herb with a bitter and astringent taste, a cooling character and a clear connection with Kapha-Pitta balance. In traditional Ayurvedic understanding, it is often mentioned in relation to respiratory comfort, seasonal load and a lighter internal feeling.

Ayurveda does not look at respiratory well-being in isolation. It considers the balance of Kapha and Pitta qualities: heaviness, dampness, mucus-like load, heat, irritation and the openness of internal channels. Cooling and astringent herbs usually fit well into the Pitta-Kapha logic, but they require moderation when dryness and Vata imbalance are already pronounced. Therefore, Vasaka is best used calmly, regularly and within the recommended dose.

Vata: when moderation is important

The dosha formula Vata + Pitta – Kapha – shows that Vasaka may increase Vata qualities. In practice, this means that people with pronounced dryness, coldness, low body weight, nervous system sensitivity or weak digestion should use the product more carefully.

If there is already strong dryness, irritability, depletion or very sensitive digestion, it is better to start gently and observe the body’s response.

Vasaka Planet Ayurveda® contains a standardized extract. One capsule contains 500 mg of Adhatoda vasica flower extract, which contains 2.5 mg of alkaloids.
